Kansas Aviation Day at the Capitol
The Kansas Department of Transportation’s (KDOT) Division of Aviation, in partnership with the Kansas Commission on Aerospace Education (KCAE), hosted the sixth annual Aviation Day in the State Capitol rotunda on Thursday, March 12. Numerous legislators, manufacturers, suppliers and aviation organizations and IPP partners participated in this event that helps facilitate industry growth opportunities. The event included a workshop focused on aviation and economic development. It was opened by KDOT Director of Aviation Bob Brock, Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, KDOT Deputy Secretary Burt Morey and FAA Regional Administrator (central region) Joe Miniachi.
Save time, save money, save lives! The Kansas Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Integration Pilot Program (IPP) is led by the Kansas Department of Transportation. It is one of ten regional efforts conducting advanced UAS operations to yield sufficient data for rule-making that will result in access to new technologies for the nation. The Kansas team is focused on efforts in Long Line Linear Infrastructure Inspection (i.e. highways, railroads, energy distribution lines, etc) and Precision Agriculture.
